It came to pass in May 2009 that guitar player Joachim and drummer Stephan invited two people at the same time to a singer audition to refound a Rockband: Singer Friso and Jürgen who had already played as a bassist.
It happened that Jürgen gave Friso the advantage to sing first. Afterwards the present audience (including Jürgen) was profoundly convinced that Friso's vocal style was the first choice and Jürgen took up station as the bassist of the Band.
Joachim chose the band's name "11 Steps" because of the fact that one section of the stairway in the bunker, in which Stephan owns the band's rehearsal room (on lease), lacked light and this section has a stair with 11 steps.
